It is an unusual process, the creation of an angel. They are heavenly creatures and sent from above, so rather than say created, I will say, interpreted it through dabbling.
There is probably an angel in your life, someone you know. This is how it all got started. I didn't create her, she was already there. I just needed to recreate her. There are plenty of tools to work with and many are free, like this Adobe Fuse that is a free preview. This angel is a female as is easily seen.
We all know an angel must have wings. She says she doesn't need wings to fly, that it's just part of the official uniform, and I insist. So into Sculptris, I go and now I create. Wings! And Sculptris is another free program. Because angels are free, so if they are charing you for their time, they might not be an angel.
But before I try to simplify the angel for use in the moving 3d visualizer, I need a pose. To do this, Adobe Fuse connects with Mixamo 3d, another free service that will create a short animation. Once you look below, you will see all the things we can do with our angel to be. But resist and let the angel be herself, She is happier that way.
Now to put her wings on. Close your eyes! She's naked. But it's artist's , or in this case, dabblers' privilage to remove the clothes for a closer look. Plus the 3d moving model visualizer I will be using needs a simpler form. This is also where she meets her wings, below in Meshlab, another free program for 3d modeling.
Now it gets to be a bit more involved, because who would'nt want to be involved with an angel? After making things as simple as possible in Meshlab above, she goes into Morph mode, whish is the Morphyre 3d visualizer. While there is a free verson of Morphyre, I opted for the pro version so I can have life size angels. "larger resolution". in the photo below, the controls are on the left monitor and the model is now mixed with video and effects on the right monitor. And what is so kewl about it all is Morphyre is controlled by music too!. Yes, the music moves everything around in glorious sound!. I record a video of the action.
And suddenly she jumps out at me, as if alive driven by a fiery energy, bursting through from another realm. Ok, I used good ol'e Photoshop to finish the work. See, no magic at all, Angels aren't magic, they are real, and this is my interpretation of one I know.
This is all part of my Dimensions Dabble. While there are many variations, many of the techniques remain similar, yet the outcome is as varied as the imagination. See the rest of these dabbles here: http://www.dabblebird.com/dimensions.html
