October 28th, 2014 the summer lingers like pollen on the legs of a bumblebee, the sun still shining and the sunflowers still stretching their petals, as if this may be their last chance. Nearby the squirrels jump from tree to tree, in conveyor fashion, single pecans their mouths can barely hold, hoping they remember all the hiding places, as many birds have left for the southern reaches as our avian family stays content to deal with the cold rains and freezing winds, for they have come to appreciate the humans tossing out the seed. Yes, this is where the temps start to fall, fall as we call it, where green turns brown and yellow turns red, the sap goes down and the trees sleep. And it will then be winter.
