Art has been driving me batty.
This is my first planet and since then I have created better planets. First this is regular 2d Photoshop work using a fractal texture. and the bat is made from fractal parts. A fractal if you are not familiar is a computer generated figure that is holographic in nature, that is, it iterates, or repeats it's shape a number of times. It is like a sea shell that repeats a pattern as it spirals larger or smaller. There are many shapes in nature that are similar to fractals.
But the bat, they represent both good and evil depending on which mythology is written. Demons sometimes are represented with bat wings, thus there may be some correlation to Halloween. The fact that bats can bite and draw blood is spooky by itself.
Below is some bat dabble called Crevice and The Guardian. The background is also made from a combination of fractals and textures in Photoshop. In dabbling, I use many different techniques, from brushes to textures, to photography, to 3d. Sometimes I use a video editor as a tool. In the dabble below, I have used a video editor to create a moving image of 3d flames that cast shadows on the bat.
